If your toilet’s actin’ up again or your faucet won’t quit dripping, welcome to the club. Plumbing issues happen — it’s just part of owning a place.
At Jensen Plumbing, we’ve been servin’ folks in Denton, Lewisville, and Flower Mound for a long while now. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s this: every house got its own story — and its own set of plumbing problems.
So we figured we’d lay out some answers to the most common questions we get asked out in the field. Nothin’ fancy, just straight-up answers from folks who actually do the work.
1. Ever wonder why that one faucet just keeps on drippin’? Even after you twist it tight?
Funny how that quiet drip somehow sounds louder at night, huh?
Most times, it’s one of these:
A rubber washer that’s wore out
Pressure’s too high in the lines
Some rusty old parts inside
Or the thing’s just loose
If you live anywhere near Denton, Flower Mound, or Lewisville — and that faucet’s been testing your patience — we’ll come take care of it.

2. Toilet keeps clogging — what gives?
A one-time clog? Eh, that happens. But if it’s clogg’n every other day, that ain’t normal.
Could be:
Something stuck deeper in the sewer line
Air vents blocked up
Or maybe the toilet itself’s just old and weak
We’ve cleared a lot of toilets in Lewisville and Flower Mound — like, more than we can count — and got pretty good at it if we’re bein’ honest.

3. Why’s the hot water keep cuttin’ out?
It always happens right when you’re mid-shower too, don’t it? If your water heater can’t keep up, you might be lookin’ at:
Sediment at the bottom of the tank
Bad heating element
Or the thing’s too small for your family in the first place
We handle water heaters — both the tank kind and those fancy tankless ones — all over Denton and nearby, so yeah, we can fix that too.
4. Think I’ve got a hidden leak — how can I tell?
Leaks ain’t always puddles. Some of ‘em hide real good. You might notice:
Your water bill jumps for no good reason
That musty mildew smell that won’t go away
Yellow spots on the ceiling or wall
Water pressure feels weaker than it used to
We use special tools (not guesswork) to find the leak — behind walls, under slabs, wherever it’s hidin’.
5. What’s up with my water pressure?
If your shower’s more of a drizzle than a blast, something’s off. Could be:
Buildup in the pipes from hard water
A leak somewhere you don’t see
Regulator might be failing
We’ve helped a bunch of homeowners in Denton and Lewisville get things flowin’ again without breakin’ the bank.
6. Can I unclog this drain on my own?
Yeah, you can give it a shot. Plunger, baking soda and vinegar — those can work on small clogs.
But if it keeps comin’ back, or nothin’s budging, best not to keep pourin’ stuff down there. Chemical cleaners do more harm than good. We’ve got the right tools to get it done without wrecking your pipes.
7. How long’s a water heater supposed to last anyway?
Usually 8–12 years. Maybe more if you’ve taken care of it. Here’s a few signs it’s goin’ out:
Water’s rusty-looking
It makes weird sounds like it’s boilin’ rocks
Runs cold fast
Water leaking from the bottom
We do free water heater checks in Denton, Lewisville, Flower Mound, all the usual spots. If your water heater’s on its way out, no big sales talk here — we’ll just tell ya what makes the most sense and go from there.

10. There’s an International Plumbing Day
Yep, there’s a World Plumbing Day, celebrated every year on March 11th! This day highlights the importance of plumbing in public health and how vital it is to the well-being of societies everywhere. It’s a great reminder of just how much we rely on plumbing to keep us safe and comfortable.
11. Not All Pipes Are Created Equal
Did you know there are over 12,000 types of pipes used in plumbing systems around the world? From copper pipes to PVC, each material has its own special use, whether it’s for carrying water, gas, or waste. The variety allows plumbers to customize systems for every need!

12. DIY Plumbing Can Be Risky
While small plumbing fixes might seem like a quick DIY project, it’s always a good idea to call in the professionals if you’re not sure what you’re doing. Improper plumbing repairs can lead to bigger issues, including water damage, mold growth, or even flooding. Better safe than sorry!
