Slow Drains in Denton, Flower Mound, and Lantana? Your Pipes Might Be Warning You

We were out doing a drain cleaning in Denton earlier today and pulled something pretty nasty out of a sewer line.

The homeowner told us the same thing we hear all the time:

"It’s probably nothing serious."

The sink had been draining a little slower than usual.Sometimes the pipes made a small gurgling noise.Nothing too dramatic.

Just one of those things people plan to deal with “later.”

But here’s the thing about plumbing.

Most pipe problems don’t start big. They start quietly.

Slow Drains Are Usually the First Sign of a Clog

Around Denton, Flower Mound, Lewisville, Lantana, and Argyle, slow drains are one of the most common reasons homeowners call us.

And honestly, most of the time the problem has been building for months.

Grease from the kitchen sink.Soap buildup.Hair in bathroom drains.Sometimes wipes or paper products.

And in North Texas we also see tree roots getting into sewer lines, especially in older homes.

None of that blocks a pipe instantly. It just slowly narrows the inside of the line until water can’t move the way it should anymore.

At first it’s barely noticeable.

Then one day you realize the sink takes forever to drain.

Signs You May Need Drain Cleaning in Denton or Flower Mound

Most people don’t call a plumber in Denton or Flower Mound until a few things start happening around the house.

Maybe the kitchen sink drains slower than it used to.

Maybe you hear gurgling sounds in the pipes when the toilet flushes.

Sometimes homeowners notice that more than one drain is slow — the bathroom sink, the shower, maybe the kitchen too. That’s often a sign the problem could be in the main sewer line.

And occasionally water starts backing up into a tub or shower, which is something we see in a lot of Lewisville and Lantana homes with older plumbing systems.

At that point people usually realize the issue isn’t going away on its own.

Why Drain Problems Usually Get Worse

A lot of homeowners hope the clog will clear itself.

Unfortunately plumbing doesn’t really work that way.

A small blockage slowly turns into a bigger one. More debris collects inside the pipe, and eventually the line can’t handle normal water flow.

That’s when things can get messy.

We start seeing:

  • backed up drains

  • toilets struggling to flush

  • sewer smells in the house

  • sometimes full sewer line backups

Catching the issue early with professional drain cleaning usually prevents that.

At Jensen Plumbing, we help homeowners throughout Denton, Flower Mound, Lantana, Lewisville, and Argyle clear clogged drains and sewer lines before they turn into major plumbing problems.

Depending on what’s going on, we may use professional drain augers, sewer cleaning equipment, or a camera inspection to see exactly what’s inside the pipe.

Most of the time, if we catch the problem early, the fix is pretty straightforward.

A Quick Thought From Today’s Job

Pipes usually don’t fail all at once.

They warn you first.

A slow drain.A weird sound in the pipes.Something that just feels a little off.

If your drains have been acting different lately,  it’s probably worth having someone take a look before things get messy.
